In early 2011 an extensive survey was commissioned to understand the changing environment within the 16FT Skiff class.
The main drawback identified in this survey was the increasing costs associated with purchasing a 16FT skiff. The Australian 16FT Skiff Association Board therefore undertook the task of reducing the cost of manufacturing and formulated a plan to have hulls produced in China. The sails, rigging, fittings, ropes, masts and boom are all sourced in Australia from local suppliers.
The result of this endeavour is a fast boat that costs approximately half that of that of its predecessors.
